Once you have the PSVR working in 'virtual' mode, you can try setting the driver mode to "Direct (VR)" in the iVRy settings (double click on the icon in the Windows system tray while iVRy is running). If you do make a mistake with the commas, SteamVR will delete the file, so you will need the backup. Make a backup of the file, so you can recover it if you make a mistake. If there is already a "psvrDriverMode" entry, you just need to change the number to 0. ** making sure that each line in the "driver_ivry" section ends in a comma, except for the last line ** eg. Set the driver mode to 'virtual' manually:Įdit the "steamvr.vrsettings" file (which can be found in the 'config' folder of your Steam installation) and add the following to the "driver_ivry" section: I was waiting to be able to test it on a laptop before getting back to you, but here are some things you (and anyone else who has this error) can try in the interim: The error shows in vrcompositor.txt as follows:įailed to start compositor: VRInitError_Compositor_InvalidOutputDesktop The error 422 means (VRInitError_Compositor_InvalidOutputDesktop), not very explanatory. It seems like a problem that is specific to laptops with nVidia chipsets.
Steam vr failed to launch compositor drivers#
Is there anything else I can uninstall for a fresh start? There's nothing else in control panel but are there any drivers around that I might have missed? Nvidia shows the headset connected and all looks ok so I'm a bit stumped. It's a new laptop so I've not had Trinus or anything like that installed, I've got a 1060 6gb laptop and connecting to hdmi.

I've tried uninstalling everything, rebooting etc. Ivry runs ok at start and I can see the desktop briefly on the psvr but after 5 seconds the screen on the headset goes black, steam vr starts and the says SteamVR Fail (422), it detects the headset and if I move it the tracking notice appears and says your headset is currently tracking but when I try and set up room it says no headset. Has anyone else experienced this? I've emailed support with all the info as per their stickied post but in the meantime I wanted to see if anyone else had this issue? I've been trying to get ivry working with my psvr and keep getting error 422 when it opens steamvr.
